Bio | Hi there, I’m Jo. My wee family includes hubby Paul (works in the military) our son Jack (10), a dog Bella and a cat Momo! Being a military family we move alot and arrived back in the UK from Germany just a year a go. We’re now based in Catterick, North Yorkshire and hoping to put done roots as our 6 moves in Jack’s 10 years have been gradually getting harder! I studied Jewellery at the Glasgow School of Art & the School of Jewellery, Birmingham which now seems like a lifetime ago! I’ve always worked in retail and have been running my own business in various forms for almost 20 years. I’ve always loved style and fashion, jewellery being the main element of focus for me until recently. Having had to close my bricks & mortar shop with all our military moves I needed to find something to replace this business and was drawn to Stella & Dot for it’s flexibility and of course the magpie in me loved the bling. I loved the fashion element and really loved helping the women I styled at my trunk shows find their perfect piece. Seeing the power in other women complimenting them when I picked the right piece for them and seeing how much it made them light up and feel good soon became just as much of a passion as the love for the jewellery! It never felt like a sales job and on a personal level grew my confidence no end. When they sadly closed their doors last year I was driven to make sure my business still had this as a focus and expanded into clothing along with partnering with another jewellery company Park Lane. Since lockdown my business has been flipped on it’s head yet again and I’ve found my online boutique has really taken off. Going from pop ups and house style sessions to using social media in a new way to reach my target audience so I wanted to offer them more in the way of styling tips and pulling looks together. I have been looking at doing this course for a long time as I always felt it complimented my business and I was always being asked if I could offer wardrobe edits or personal shops. I love the idea of being able to offer this along with the boutique capsule launches so customers not only feel confident with their body shape and style but also have a place they can buy Capsule wardrobe pieces that work for them with confidence. My business has always been driven by trying to help other women feel good about themselves so this new element will also give me the confidence to offer that. Sorry I’m very verbose and late with my mini task! It’s been a crazy time but I’m really wanting to make the most of this opportunity to grow and learn! JO x |
