You have assessed your clients body shape as an hourglass secondary pear shape. It would have been very useful to have her sizes though I see from the images supplied that she has more curve in her bottom half and she is not in proportion, therefore she would be considered a pear shape. An hourglass glass is beautifully in proportion. If you have a client you feel you can not categorise, use the LCS approach to body parts and consider where more of the curve/lack of curve sits. You need to be concise with clients and ensure accuracy, for example imagine looking online at an hourglass celebrity and then a pear shape and a client could end up feeling very confused about where they sit. Your client doesn’t have a huge disparity between top and bottom so for her it’s not so challenging.

It is evident you have put a lot of thought and effort into this project with attention to detail, creating style boards on pinterest and planning out how you will work with clients, so well done here. What you have submitted is beautifully presented and enticing for a client to read and learn from which continues their style journey with you.

You have paid great attention to detail observing some useful learning tools such as discovering what people say they love, often isn’t what they’d actually wear! So the big question is how do we as stylists offer them a service that feels elevated yet very much ‘them’ so they feel truly heard and understood and that is what is so exciting! Your client clearly enjoyed her time with you and it has given her confidence and new styles to consider, so very well done to you, you should feel proud of what you have achieved.

Continue refining and honing your skills and develop the way you share your body shape assessments, exploring new brands and innovations in fashion and you will create a wonderful personal styling business. Enjoy every moment and well done!

Best wishes,

You have assessed your clients body shape as a slim Apple. It would have been very useful to have seen images of her in slim fitting clothing to correctly assess her shape, though from her description of the areas of challenge and what areas she likes this does correlate. You have provided her with some accurate and useful tools and tips in her feedback so well done here. For points of elevation you could consider adding in some images to support your feedback of similar body shapes to hers as that can help a client visualise why the tools you provide work for her.

You have assessed her style personality accurately and her love of high quality and simplicity works perfectly with this style type and you have shown her how to adapt this to a more contemporary style during the session.

You have created several new outfits for her considering her requirements and have also provided relevant and useful information on why these work for her shape – so valuable to a client. Having the outfits she currently wears alongside is so useful for a client to see as it gives them context of what has been achieved in the process.

For points of elevation, I would consider how you are laying out your feedback and and formatting as much of the text had moved over her images so I was struggling to see the outfits you created. As stylists everything we provide must look on point and beautifully laid out to inspire the client, engage them and look professional. For further point of elevation consider adding in imagery, for example an image of an apple body shape with some useful pointers alongside it will bring this area to life for your client and be a joy to read and engage with.

Your Wish List is spot on with just the right amount of items to show her what you could achieve with a personal shop and it enables her to visualise these items as part of her wardrobe and it’s nice to see some colour and accessories to compliment her skintone – just be careful of jackets with pockets on the waist area for apple body shapes as pockets can widen that area particularly on a more curvy apple shape. Again this area could have a little more polish so consider creating a shopping board for clients – there are many apps and good services around which are easy to use and help elevate this service.

Well done on receiving a positive review from your client! Continue refining and honing your skills and the way all of your feedback and information is presented to your clients so you continue to grow and develop your business. Enjoy every moment and well done!

Best wishes,
Abbey x

Thank you so much for uploading your final assignment.
Im afraid I can’t pass you at this moment in time and give you the grade you deserve quite yet. I would love it if you could resubmit Tanya for a few reasons.
Please may you show us her exact temperament scores?
The light is side-on (particularly on the red drapes) so its hard to get an accurate analysis.
You haven’t asked her if she tans, flushes which is very important. Revisit the module to check our list.

You have worked so hard and demonstrated such a great assignment, I love the presentation but I need all of the findings out to pass you.
I also believe that you cant have an olive skin tone with pink undertone, its one or the other. Olive is warm, pink is cool. If Tanya tans or burns and tans slowly, I would go down the warm season route.

I cant wait to see your resubmission, you have worked so hard so I want to give you the best grade possible!

Thank you
Sian

A huge congratulations on passing your colour course, what a journey it has been and I am so pleased to be sharing the great news with you – so very well deserved!

I am so happy that you feel excited about implementing the colours of spring into your
wardrobe and I think you are a total natural with following the light Spring colours on the inside of your seasonal fan rather than the clear and bright tints and shades on the outside of your fan.

With the spring red you correctly analyse that the spring red gives you more life in the skin, and your eyes stand more. I think they POP its beautiful on you. I totally agree that the Spring green gives you an overall freshness to your complexion and soothes the darkness under the eyes.

You glow in the gold, you truly do, your skin is so much brighter and healthier and the same with the cream compared to white drape. I love the detail that you have gone to with your eyes, great work. I think the cream and grey will be great neutrals for you.

Your make up is spot on, well done, it really brings out your eyes, I also love make up free days!
I would recommend trying a brown mascara and seeing how you get on with that.

Fantastic advice with your colour psychology, yellow for optimism and to stimulate our minds ready for the new normal and your choice of purple has made me want to go a buy a purple dress! I love how you say ‘will be using it to actively anchor the uplifting feelings, encourage creativity and at the same time provide calmness, restoring balance and stability’ Just wonderful!

A huge congratulations and I cant wait to watch your colour journey unfold!
Stylish wishes,
Sian

Thanks so much for all your valuable feedback and encouragement. I will certainly take all your points on board.
The client did provide a testimonial which i uploaded so I hope that is there. And yes of course, i see how useful it would be to include images of other Apple shapes and possibly some celebrities with this shape as well – so i will do that on my next session.
With warmest regards
Erika

Again thank you for the additional information to go with your case studies.

Again, I tend to agree with you on your final diagnosis. There are a couple of things that don’t add up for a winter client, such as her wanting a natural make-up look…this is quite unusual for a winter! Most of them want them drama that some intense colours can bring, particularly a strong lipstick colour.

It was a close call for me with the drapes between spring and winter, as I thought the spring drapes brought her complexion to life. But as everything else points to winter, I think that is her dominant season and therefore you are correct in giving her winter as her season.

Again there were no make-up smudges so I can’t mark your make-up suggestions.

As far as the colour psychology is concerned, you say that she needs a boost of colour to give her some confidence, and you suggest red or orange. Yes as you quite rightly say, these would need to be the right shades for her season, but you didn’t tell me what those shades were…it would have been nice to hear your thoughts so I know you’re on the right track. Orange definitely isn’t a winter colour and you would find it hard to find a shade of orange to suit her. Orange is made up of red and yellow and so by nature is a very warm colour. I wouldn’t suggest orange for a winter client.

Her shades of red as well would not be orangey shades. A winters’ reds are shades like wine, burgundy, and more purple-reds. So always make sure you give your client the correct shades of whatever colours you suggest for her.

Overall a good job, well done.

Thank you for the additional information to go with the case studies you have uploaded.

I have now looked at everything, and I think you are correct with your diagnosis of Autumn. However, I haven’t got all of the drapes to look at, as summer and winter greens are missing, and all of the neutrals, along with gold.

However, it is all pointing towards Autumn, so unless something very bizarre was going on with the others, I think you are correct.

You didn’t supply any smudges of the make-up colours, so I haven’t been able to mark that, and I also don’t seem to have any Colour Psychology info.

However, the most important thing is the ultimate diagnosis, which I believe to be correct, so well done.

Thank you so much for the feedback and the guidance. I have had a close look at your comments, re-studied the modules and have now uploaded a new draping session and colour analysis of myself. I thought it would be incredibly useful to really nail my own colouring and season.

Where I think the summer conclusion threw me previously is mainly with my natural hair colour. As a child my hair had no warmth in it and no shades of red – just pure blonde. As I have gotten older (30 now) more and more red is coming through. One of my two big sisters is a natural red (similar colour as Rose from Titanic) so it definitely runs in the family. My thought was therefore, that if I had my colourings analysed earlier, I would have been likely to identify more with the coolness of summer than the warmth of spring – supported with the knowledge that I burn in the sun and don’t get freckles.

Looking at the big variations of the spring colours, I looked more closely to the lighter colours you mentioned and then I finally found “home”. The rather sharp and bright colours in my few drapes are naturally the classic spring colour, but I resonate a lot more with the lighter spring colours (this I have included in the re-submitted case study).

Thank you for the guidance and help with this. I feel really settled now with the spring season, knowing I can choose the lighter colours which suits my temperament more.

Looking forward to hearing your feedback.

Best wishes,
Stefanie 🙂
